He mass-produces idyllic depictions of idealized, false realities that are calculatedly devised to opiate our senses—making him a veritable Larry Flynt in sheep’s clothing.
It doesn't really matter what you say about Thomas Kinkade. Anybody can say anything. I can say the sky is red, it does not change the fact the sky is blue. Thomas Kinkade has sold more canvases than any other painter in history More than Picasso, Rembrandt, Gaughin, Monet, Manet, Renoir and Van Gogh combined. He is to Art when Henry Ford was to automobiles. He is the most collected living artist in the U.S. and worldwide (60 minutes CBS). One in Every 30 Americans own a Thomas Kinkade image whether in stationary, greetings cards, jig saw puzzles, afgans, night lights, Lazy Boy chairs, clocks, watches, train sets, lighthouses, plates, or high end canvsses which is what I sell. http://www.squidoo.com/thomas-kinkade/
Thanks for the tutorial and sales pitch, Karen. Kinkade has sold more canvases than the aforementioned artists because, as I stated, he masses produces pseudo-original factory-generated paintings (similar to Henry Ford, as you referred). But beyond all that, it appears your appraisal of artistic merit is based solely on popularity and/or prevalence. By that logic, Walmart would be the pinnacle of chic. That Kinkadian La-Z-Boy of yours does sound swank, however.
oh isn't it just like kindade to bring controversy wherever he goes! whether it be religion, art, or money - trouble finds this doer of illumination. He is a business man and not an artist. His paintings make me sick and Karen scares the bejesus out of me.
Scam artist is a more apt title that painting artist. I detest the man with every fiber of my art-appreciating being. Sell-out is a word that comes to mind with I view his poorly executed, over publicized "art". Thank you Chris, for calling this one like it is.
Village Idiot is the title I've given him for years. He's done more harm to fine art and its appreciation than most anyone else alive. Shame on him ...
Wow....comparing him to Rembrant,Picasso.Van ,Monet and other greats....just because he sold more artwork??REALLY! what is it with art now...quality or quantity??!!!!

Thanks Karen!
